Understanding our quality control when it comes to Handcrafted Boots
All of our products are built to what is in our opinion the highest quality standards
What it is
Here is a definition of high quality handcrafted boots; Handcrafted Boots are constructed with leather, rubber, nails, thread, and screws. It has "thicker than usual" leather, and generally last longer than other boots, and usually have an arch support with heels. They are customizable in options and sizing available on our website.
What it's not
Because of the handcrafted nature of JK Boots, here are some disclaimers to be aware of that may vary and be uneven, offset, or different, throughout each individual boot; the color, leather finish, texture, thickness, stitching lines, spacing, eyelets, hooks, quarter spacing, uppers positioning, heel counter position, sole stitching. Stitching on uppers and soles may be frayed, or appear torn in some area. All of these things are normal for handcrafted boots. Rest assured that quality is not compromised. Appearances may be deceiving and always take second priority when it comes to building quality handmade boots.

What it is
Custom fitting means we can fit proper foot length, foot width, and calf circumference. Usually during this process, boots will fit 10 times better, and will fit better than any other footwear. We use a combination of in store fitting, try on boots, and measurements, do determine your suggested size. There are almost no limitations with length and width for us. In the past we have done things to help people in all kinds of circumstances, from making more room for bunions and matching foot shape, to hammer toes and foot amputees.
Out-of-store custom fitting is determined by measurements provided by you. You are responsible for providing correct, detailed measurements, and then we will offer our suggested sizing based on those measurements. Our suggested size may not be your preferred size, from that point on, you may or may not need to use a combination of oiling, break-in time, liners, or socks. Please understand, It's impossible for us to guarantee your preferred sizing because of the following example; Two twins with identical feet could receive an identical suggested size. One prefers a tighter fit, while the other prefers a looser fit. One is simple and has no problems with the size or the boots at all, he loves them, the other has many questions and issues with the boots. For this reason, we offer our suggested size, and then it's up to you to get yourself there. We are on your team, and here to help.
What it's not
Custom fitting does not mean it will solve other issues that could be caused by fatigue, underlying foot issues, or injuries. Custom fitting does not promise to solve every problem, nor does it carry any guarantees. Custom fitting does not guarantee your preferred size.
What it is

What it is

What its not
Preferred Size is impossible for us to determine because of the following example; Two twins with identical feet could receive an identical suggested size. One prefers a tighter fit, while the other prefers a looser fit. One is simple and has no problems with the size or the boots at all, he loves them. The other, has many questions and issues with the boots. For this reason, we offer our suggested size, and then it's up to you to get yourself the rest of the way to your preferred size. We are on your team, and here to help.
There should be about a "thumbs width" of room from the end of the longest toe to the end of the inside of the boot. There is no right or wrong here, its purely preference, so we leave it up to interpretation. Toe room is always good because the leather in the front will shrink back, curl, and after that, you still need room as your foot slightly moves around, especially going downhill.
The boots should feel snug all around, they should not be too loose, nor should there be any sharp pain. Find a good balance.
What it is
Comfort means having a proper length, width, arch support, and heel height which may provide better current and long term foot health.
What it's not
Comfort is not a promise to make all your foot issues go away. There are many factors like fatigue, weight, bone structure, injury, genes, unknown medical issues that may come into play. We do not promise to make boots feel like clouds on your feet. You can try them on before purchase, and we can help make suggestions for you. Make sure your expectations are realistic, before committing to a purchase. Later, can always try another size, or adjustment during another purchase.
All lead times begin after size confirmation. This means you have confirmed the size we are building for you.

If general manufacturing gets pushed out, all lines are affected, not only yours in particular. If you have selected an expedited lead time, you position in manufacturing has not changed, however, the general lead time may change.
